Our Story

Kahawa Coffee

Our story began in 2004, when we first started sharing our smooth, flavorful coffee with friends in Norway. What began as a small passion project quickly grew into a business as more people discovered the rich, round taste of our beans.

We source our coffee directly from the Aranga Coffee Group in Nkoaranga Village, at the base of Mt. Meru. Our roasting also takes place in the same village, ensuring that every step—from harvesting to roasting—happens locally in the fertile volcanic soil of Mt. Meru. In 2014, we officially adopted the name “Kahawa,” which means coffee in Swahili, reflecting our roots and identity.

Volcanic-Grown Arabica Specialty Coffee

Mt. Meru’s slopes provide the ideal environment for our Arabica beans. The nutrient-rich volcanic soil, high altitude (1500–1700m), and slow maturation process all contribute to the exceptional quality of our coffee. Our beans are shade-dried, allowing for a more gradual drying process that enhances their flavor and aroma.

Our Mission

We partner directly with local farmers, roast on site in Nkoaranga Village, and bring high-quality, sustainably produced coffee to the market.

Our Vision

We strive to build self-sufficient, thriving communities that produce exceptional, environmentally friendly coffee for the world.

Future Plans

We are preparing to expand our presence in Norway, making our premium Mt. Meru coffee more accessible throughout the Scandinavian market.
